Celebrating our Diversity: Harmony Cup Recap

As part of Volleyball WA’s acknowledgement and celebration of Harmony Week, we hosted the 2025 Harmony Cup, a social volleyball competition for all communities to play and celebrate our vibrant multicultural State. Thirty-nine teams and over three hundred players from diverse backgrounds participated in the event.

This year, our event was supported by the Office of Multicultural Interests which enabled us to incorporate cultural performances on the day from the Kitwek Association (Kenya), Jamaica Dance Culture, Segaloya Fusion and Malaetasi Perth Pacific Arts (Samoa). Strategy and Planning Officer, Damita Sherwani was also in attendance, representing the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Office of Multicultural Interests. The performances wouldn’t have been possible without support from the Office of Multicultural Interests and we thank them for their continued support of this event

The Harmony Cup was a true representation of unity and diversity, with players from different backgrounds and skill levels coming together to enjoy the spirit of friendly competition. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and mutual respect as teams showcased their talent and sportsmanship on the court.

“It is very heartwarming to see so many people from diverse backgrounds and their families at the Harmony Cup.  This event continues to promote our organisation’s core values of inclusivity and community.” Said Robyn Kuhl, CEO Volleyball WA.

The 2025 Harmony Cup not only highlighted the importance of promoting harmony and understanding among various communities but also served as a reminder of the power of sports in bringing people together.
