The 2019/2020 Alcohol. Think Again Beach Tour started last weekend with the men’s and women’s elite divisions and women’s competitive division all playing on Saturday and Sunday. The traditional first qualifying round was an opportunity for new teams to get seeded for the season and for returning teams to improve their seed index going into the second round.
38 teams, including teams from Albany and Broome, competed on a very hot Saturday for a chance to be in the final bracket on Sunday.
In the women’s division a very dynamic duo Kennedy/Arminen took the win against the pair Atthowe/Orszaghova who a day before topped their pool defeating the same pair in three sets. However Kennedy/Arminen had other ideas for the Grand Final and fought brilliantly to claim top spot in a very entertaining three setter 15-11, 7-15 and 12-9.
On the men’s side, despite losing their number 1 seed in pool play, the pair Hunt/Lee came out on top despite having to battle hard against what was on paper the toughest part of the draw. They comfortably won their Grand Final against the duo Kingston/Whitehead in two straight sets 15-12. 15-6.
Congratulations to all winners and thank you to all of the players who made it a successful and entertaining event.
Volleyball WA would like to remind all players that nominations for the second round are open until Thursday 21st November 2019. For more information about the Alcohol. Think Again Beach Tour Round 2 please click here.
